Frequently asked questions

Where do I place a yoga block for the most comfortable seated breathing?

Under the sit bones at the medium height (15 cm) so the pelvis tilts slightly forward and the spine lengthens naturally. Eugene uses this setup for his morning breath practice at the Kostopil workshop, roughly 10 minutes before production starts. A wooden block stays put; a foam block sinks under body weight. See our seated-practice setup at /products/wooden-yoga-brick.

How does a block support a supported rest pose?

Place one block on its flat side (10 cm) under the mid-back between the shoulder blades, and a second under the head at the same height. This lifts the chest and lets the shoulders release toward the floor. Roman recommends the ash block for its slightly warm surface. Ten to fifteen minutes in this pose is a full nervous system reset. Details at /collections/yoga-products.

Can a block help my hands in standing poses?

Yes. Set the block on its tall side (23 cm) beside the front foot in Triangle, Half Moon or Pyramid, then rest fingertips on top. This is the single most useful block placement for standing poses because it lets the chest stay open. Eugene teaches this first to every workshop visitor at Kostopil. Start with one from /products/wooden-yoga-brick and add a matched pair as you go.

How do I keep block practice feeling comfortable, not forced?

Stay within a range where breath remains steady and slow. If the breath shortens or the shoulders tense, lower the block or exit the pose. The block is a comfort tool, not a target to reach. Eugene's rule at the Kostopil workshop is simple: never chase a stretch with a block. Explore gentle setups at /collections/yoga-products and prioritise comfort over shape.

Can I get a custom finish for a home meditation block?

Yes. Alex offers custom finishes at metadeskukraine@gmail.com including natural unwaxed, deep linseed, or beeswax-linseed blend for a warmer hand feel. Popular for home meditation corners. Roman applies each finish by hand at the Kostopil workshop with a 2 to 4 week lead time. Standard linseed-finished blocks ship faster from /products/wooden-yoga-brick, typically 3 to 5 working days.
